Thoughts on the BCS / Week One

As an Oregon fan, I want to throw my two cents in about Boise State at fourth. Obviously that's a quality win, from a computer's perspective. Unfortunately for computers, they have no eyes and have no real human memory. Did you see Boise State play? Yeah, not so good.

Am I still perplexed about what my Ducks did in Boise? Absolutely. Do I think Boise is a better team than Oregon. It's hard to argue with the loss.

But I keep on hearing all the pundits now citing the Boise State game as a ceiling for Oregon, and even I, as un-BCS-friendly as I might be know that were both those two teams to win out, and year's end who would get the nod? Probably the same Oregon team that lost to Boise. Strength of schedule means that much. And if Oregon beats USC, Boise didn't. They can ride Oregon all they want - Oregon's going to jump them if Oregon wins out. Boise is not a ceiling - but it certainly has one.

And for the record, Chip Kelly, if you're listening - please reschedule this team. Do another home-and-home, because you owe it to your players and to the fans. Obviously without a quarterback and an offensive line it's hard to win a game, but you deserve to beat a good team and show that you can do it. Oregon's a better team than Boise State, talent and production included, but losing twice and looking poor in doing so - figure this out and reschedule the game, beat them by twenty (which would be very likely at this juncture) and appease those who you disgraced earlier this year.
